Hong Kong - Final Stop Asia 2024

We are fans of Hong Kong had not been there for years so stopped for a few days on the way home from Hainan. During past visits I photographed the neon lit modern skyscrapers that Hong Kong is so famous for. This time my eyes were looking for the homier side of the city.

We couldn't come to Hong Kong and not have dim sum. We sought out a restaurant that still used cart, what a fabulous meal!

Hong Kong was the first place I had ever seen bamboo used for scaffolding, and it is still done. This is an example on a shorter building, but the same is done on 30 story and more construction.

We visited a market street that is known for audio equipment that was of interest to John, and stopped at one of the many seafood markets.

Hong Kong has a vital cocktail scene, so we took advantage.

I appreciated the diverse architecture of the city and the contrasts in building styles.

Here are some images of things that caught my eye.

And lots of great graffiti, including a chicken cartoon which we saw everywhere.

We were concerned that Hong Kong would be greatly changed because of Chinese rule. As a tourist it was not evident, but as a resident one cannot be critical of the government without risking consequences. Politics aside, we had a great time. It was a wonderful ending to a fabulous Asian adventure.
