Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We went to Kuala Lumpur in October and our hotel room faced the iconic Petronas Towers which were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998-2004.They are steel grey and change constantly with the light.

KL is a modern city dotted with historic buildings.

There are some lovely mosques and I really enjoyed visiting the Islamic museum.

Being Southeast Asia, the street life and food vendors come to life at night when the temperature finally cools.

We took a day trip to Malacca, a historical port town that still carries imprints of the British, Dutch and Portuguese as well as the Chinese, Hindu and Malay population.

Enterprising rickshaw drivers in Malacca decorate their vehicles with contemporary themes. Not a ride I would take, but they were funny to see.

Walking Malacca was a photographer's delight -- very picturesque.

A highlight in KL was the bird sanctuary. I'll do a separate blog entry dedicated to the birds, but these were two of my favorites

Interesting and fun visit.
